Dr Ada Igonoh, the only female doctor to have survived Nigeria’s Ebola epidemic has given birth to a baby girl.
First Consultant Medical Centre announced the baby girl weighing just a little over four kilos was born at the Greater El-Monte Community Hospital, California.
Igonoh was a resident staff at First Consultant, whose staff became infected after being exposed to Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian American who collapsed on arrival at Lagos airport.
Igonoh has been under surveillance since she conceived to ensure her child is free of the virus, which killed a total of eight people in Nigeria, including Sawyer, at its height.
